ClubView have successfully demonstrated another product module to pilot club Oxford United – this time having worked with the club on managing the new EFL League One salary cap.

The salary cap was introduced to clubs in League 1 and 2 in August 2020, and ClubView have worked alongside Oxford United to develop a module that delivers the required information to the League, whilst offering a host of advantages to clubs as well.

The new module allows the club to manage the finances of their squad securely within the ClubView portal, benefit from enhanced UX and functionality, and to better forecast squad costs throughout the season. Meanwhile, ClubView would also allow the relevant and required information to be submitted to the League in the required format, and for the League to see how each club was performing against the newly introduced cap in real-time.

ClubView Chief Executive Matt Everett said “We are delighted to have been able to work quickly with Oxford United to develop a module to help all clubs to manage the new salary cap requirements in the EFL. We have seen with the impact of Covid-19 many reforms and changes to governance talked about, and this is one such example. Just weeks after the cap was introduced, we have been able to build a module that would benefit not only all clubs, but the League themselves as well.”

Speaking to the Sunday People, Oxford United Managing Director Niall McWilliams spoke highly of the module, and ClubView approach, saying “What it does is track the finances of the whole business, not just with respect of the players’ salary cap, but it lets you know either on a daily, weekly or monthly basis exactly where you are. What this does is brings all of our reports under one umbrella. In an instant, I can see how much room we have in the new salary cap to bring players in, for instance”.

ClubView will continue to further develop the module with feedback from Oxford United, with a view to piloting it with several more EFL clubs in early 2021.

We are delighted to announce that Dick Knight has joined ClubView in the role of Chairman.

Dick is widely known as ‘the man who saved Brighton & Hove Albion’- which is a perfect fit for everything that ClubView stands for and strives for.

Following a successful career in advertising, he became Chairman of the club in 1997 and was appointed Life President in 2009. As Chairman, he was instrumental in taking then homeless BHAFC from the bottom of League 2 to the Championship, en route to the Premier League. He led the 10 year battle for the club’s iconic new stadium, the Amex, and was responsible for transforming BHAFC into a respected multi-award winning community club.

Ed McCulloch, Founder and COO at ClubView said “Being from Brighton myself, I’ve seen first hand the regard Dick is held in for his role in steering the club away from financial danger. We felt we needed somebody with a wealth of experience in the financial operations and tools that would help out clubs across the Leagues, and are delighted that somebody of Dick’s calibre and experience shares our vision. We look forward immensely to learning from his experiences to help us to shape our product”.

ClubView have today hit their latest 2020 milestone by successfully demonstrating the first developed module of the platform to pilot club, Oxford United.

EFL League One side Oxford United signed up as a pilot club in December 2019, and have been working closely with ClubView providing data and insight to assist with the product development.

The initial demo included features based initially around ticketing and attendance, showing all historic attendance revenue and data, League benchmarks, and predicted attendance for future matches using our ClubView xR (Expected Revenue) Artificial Intelligence.

ClubView CTO Josh Vasquez Rendo was glad to put the development in front of the club users; “We’ve been working incredibly hard since the turn of the year to build and future proof the back end databases that will drive the platform. Now we’ve layered on the front end and been able to share it with our eventual users, we are really pleased with the initial feedback. We will continue to develop with football club input as we expand the range of the ClubView platform.”

Following the initial demo, ClubView and Oxford United will continue work collaboratively to further develop the platform, adding additional reporting and revenue streams and undertaking user testing during the coming weeks.

Niall McWilliams, Managing Director at Oxford United said “It’s great to be involved as a pilot club for ClubView. As a club we often talk about sustainability being one of our key pillars, and by working together on this project we feel we are really helping to shape a platform that will help other clubs in the very near future. It was great to see the quality of the platform and reporting, as well as the financial predictions for our forthcoming matches. My only comment after the demo was to please build the full platform as quickly as possible!”
